Gig Posters: The Art of Contemporary Music Promotion!

Hey everyone, I just participated in the exhibition Gig Posters: The Art of Contemporary Music Promotion at the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft (Louisville, KY) from March 6 to May 16 (I know, I know its already over). Anyway, this is my first exhibition outside Mexico since I finished college, and it was SO great to be able to be in the same gallery with big names in this business. There might be some posters left for sale (I’m not sure), but check out in the museum web store.
Also it seems that I'll be having another exhibition in Los Angeles, CA this summer. It will be a music related thing, as soon as I know more details I let you know.

Hola a todos, acabo de participar en la exposición Gig Posters: The Art of Contemporary Music Promotion en el Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft (Louisville, KY) del 6 de Marzo al 16 de Mayo (ya se, ya se que ya es muy tarde). Esta es mi primera exposición fuera de México desde que termine la universidad, y fue increíble poder haber estado en la misma galería junto a grandes nombres en este negocio. Aun debe de haber algunos posters en venta (no estoy seguro), pero chequen en la tienda en línea. También parece ser que este verano participare en otra exposición en Los Angeles, CA. Sera algo relacionado con la música pero daré mas detalles al respecto cuando todo este confirmado.

NEW GIG POSTER!!!

So here's a new gig poster I made for the release show of THE KRANEOS's new album DEAD OR ALIVE (which I also designed) in EL FORO ALICIA (Mexico City). I really wanted to make a poster for a psycho-rockabilly show, I'm glad I made it!
Aquí hay un nuevo poster, este lo hice para la presentación del nuevo cd de THE KRANEOS: DEAD OR ALIVE (el cual también diseñe yo) en el FORO ALICIA (México D.F.). De verdad tenia muchas ganas de hacer un poster para un show de psycho o rockabilly. ¡Me dio mucho gusto hacerlo!

CAT,FRIDGE AND TAT!!!!!

HELLO EVERYONE!! It's been a looooooong time. A lot of things happened the last month. First of all I adopted a cat: SALIM, the problem was that he turned out to be PURE EVIL so after some bites, scratches and hate signs my sister decided to put him for adoption. I miss him.
Second I bought a new fridge and it’s really cool that I'm finally able to buy ice cream again (after like 8 years).
Third I spent the last month and a half as an apprentice in the tattoo studio of Diego (my teacher) and after tattooing a bunch of smelly pork legs I just tattooed my first person. The brave man who gave me the chance to make my first tattoo ever was my friend DRAVEN, he asked me for the horned girl I made for a CRS7 flyer. Also I have been working a lot lately on a bunch of things that I'll be posting soon, and my website: http://benjaminestrada.com/, that hopefully will be coming out this summer with a couple of new comics, so keep on checking for more news soon.

HOLA A TODOS!!! Ha pasado mucho tiempo desde la última vez que escribí aquí, pero ya estoy de vuelta. Ha pasado mucho este último mes. Primero adopte un gato llamado SALIM, al que quería mucho, pero resulto ser PURA MALDAD, y después de varios rasguños, mordidas y señales de odio se decidió que lo teníamos que poner en adopción. Lo extraño.
Segundo, compre un refrigerador nuevo lo cual me permitió poder comprar helado después de casi 8 años, esto ha complementado mi vida y me ha hecho una persona plena y feliz.
Tercero, El ultimo mes y medio estuve en el estudio de Diego (mi maestro) aprendiendo a tatuar, y después de tatuar varias patas de puerco por fin pude tatuar a mi primera persona. El valiente voluntario que me permitió meterle aguja fue mi amigo DRAVEN (muchas gracias!!!!) quien me pidió que le hiciera a la chica cornuda que hice para los flyers de CRS7. También he estado trabajando como loco en un montón de cosas más, las cuales estaré posteando muy pronto, también mi nuevo sitio http://benjaminestrada.com/ que con algo de suerte estará funcionando este verano con un par de nuevos comics en los que trabajo, así que estén pendientes.

LIVE PAINTING!!!

In April 4th I’ll be doing a LIVE PAINTING with my friend KÖPKE in the comic store BADABING in Zona Rosa Mexico City. If you’re around the city by this time you should come it’s a great store and hopefully there will be some drinks and stuff.

El 4 de Abril voy a estar haciendo un LIVE PAINTING en la tienda BADABING en la zona Rosa, trataremos de hacer lo posible para que haya algo de comida, música y bebida, así que ya saben, todos están invitados.

AURA!!!!

Some of you might have noticed that I posted a "comic" named AURA several months ago. It used to appear in a teen magazine published all over latin America (that’s why it was always in spanish). I worked on that comic for over 5 years, and then it got cancelled because the new editor put one of her friends in my place. Anyway, I will be publishing this comic on the SPICY CHILLI CANDY site, as soon as the site programming is done, and it will be in english too, so stay tuned to know when this is going to be launched.

Últimamente he recibido varios mails para preguntarme sobre que demonios pasa con AURA, que si la voy a seguir publicando, si ya murió, si sacaré algo más..etc,etc. Bueno la verdad es que SI, si voy a sacar una historia nueva de Aura, a diferencia de lo que se publicaba en la revista TU, ahora las historias serán mucho mas largas y complicadas, será mas un comic, no tanto una tira (como yo siempre le consideré). Esta historia saldrá en Internet en el sitio spicychillicandy.com tan pronto como se termine la programación del mismo. Si, yo se que dijimos que este proyecto estaría funcionando hace ya unos meses, pero la verdad es que fue mucho mas complicado de lo que pudimos haber imaginado. En fin, espero que esto resuelva las dudas de los que me escriben, Ah! y por cierto gracias por escribir aunque sea al mail.

SANTO DE MI DEVOCIÓN!!

This next Saturday I’ll be in the “SANTO DE MI DEVOCIÓN” show. It’s an art exhibition dedicated to most iconic wrestler of all times “SANTO: el enmascarado de Plata” in memory of the 25th anniversary of his death. This is really exciting for me because I’m a HUGE fan of mexican wrestling-horror-sci-fi movies. So if you’re around México City during February come on over to the gallery, I’m sure it’s going to be a great show.
